Join us for a provocative and amusing Book Talk and Rye Bread Tasting at Zinnias. New member Michaele Weissman, the Washington-based food writer and writing teacher, will be discussing her highly-praised, not-entirely-conventional memoir “The Rye Bread Marriage.” This book tells the story of Michaele’s husband’s obsession with the rye bread of his Latvian homeland while plumbing the depths of long-term marriage—how is it, she asks, that opposites stay together without wringing each other’s necks?   (Michaele’s husband, retired scientist John Melngailis owns a tiny company that markets Latvian rye bread.) Come and listen, come and laugh, come and taste. Michaele is the author of four books and hundreds and articles. Her coffee book, “God in a Cup", for which she followed three young coffee buyers around the world, is widely credited with putting the specialty coffee industry on the map.
