Members of Beyond Plastics Montgomery County will discuss the challenges posed by single-use plastics and talk about how to reduce your use. The presentation will cover the plastic waste problem, why recycling isn’t the answer, and the impact of plastics on human health. They will also offer a display of alternatives to single-use plastics (SUPs) for household use and personal care.
Beyond Plastics Montgomery County is a local group of Beyond Plastics, a national organization dedicated to reducing plastic waste everywhere. To achieve its goals, Beyond Plastics works with the County Council and Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to educate consumers about ways they can reduce SUPs to protect the environment and human health. The group also works with local businesses on how to improve their practices regarding the provision of plastic items.
