About this event
Join us for a 45–60 minute informational session focused on building a dementia-friendly community.
Participants will:

Learn about Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia

Recognize common signs and symptoms of dementia

Gain practical tips for communicating and interacting with people living with dementia

Learn how to create dementia-friendly physical spaces
Background: Dementia is a community issue that must be addressed at the community level. A dementia-friendly community is informed, safe, and respectful of individuals living with dementia and their families; offers supportive options across community sectors; and fosters quality of life for all.
Who should attend: Community members, volunteers, service providers, businesses, faith communities, and anyone interested in building a more inclusive community.
This session is informed by the principles of Dementia Friendly America, a multi-sector national collaboration working to advance dementia-friendly communities across the United States.
